Hallo Amr again!
by Charles Craig

Thanks for all your information -I guess I am not
in your pictures as I left in 1950. I arrived in
1947, so I spent 4 years at the ESC. I remember
Norman Blackmore - a name I had forgotten - and
many of the others. I remember Miss Inglis and
Miss Dexter who I think were our form mistresses,
and I remember the star achievement chart on the
right hand side of the classroom by the door into
the corridor. We lived at No.3 Sharia Sebak by
the Heliopolis race-course in a block of flats,
and I seem to remember spending evenings at the
Heliopolis Sporting Club drinking Cokes and the
locally brewed McDonalds Fruit Cup. I have very
happy memories of my time at ESC, and returning
to grey austerity post-war England was a real
culture shock. I can remember the blue-green ESC
buses lined up by the side of the school, and I
once got on the wrong one and ended up in Gezira!
I retired from being a university lecturer, and
now do part-time consultancy work...I visited
Minnesota in 1989 on a business trip - to
Brainerd and Staples via St.Paul. It was bitterly
cold even in April. I hope to attend the UK
reunion this year. Thanks again.
