Reunion in London
by Louise Payne ( nee Faraony)

I was at the ESC in 1946 until 1948. I have very

little recollection of lessons or school life in

general but a vivid recollection of being taken

there and collected by Abdul and one school

sports day of which I have some photos and

running in a race which I nearly won until I

turned round to see who was following me and

someone passed me and won the race ! My parents

were laughing and it became a family joke of how

I nearly won the race and even more so that I

ran like a duck ! I lived on Rue de'Aeroporte in

Heliopolis with my parents and grandmother . My

father was a doctor at the local hospital. He

was Egyptian and my mother was Scottish . My

father studied medicine at Edinburgh University

where he met my mother and then returned to

Cairo to take care of his ailing mother . This

is how I came to go to ESG at 5 years old .

I note with interest that there is a reunion in

London in May 2005 and I am fascinated by

this . I live in the UK and I would love to

come but know nobody nor am I likely to remember

anyone. I was only 5 when I went to the school

although I proudly say that I went there . I

wonder if anyone remembers my maiden name -

Faraony ?
